A Social Organization, Embracing Catholic Values in Men,

and serving as a Role Model to the Youth of the Parish Community

The St. Bonaventure Men’s Club has a rich and extensive heritage in the parish, going back more than 40 years. This ministry is open to all adult men of the Parish. Membership is automatic, and there are never any dues to pay. All Parish members are welcome at all of our events, as well as at our speaker presentations.

The Men’s Club meets the first Thursday of each month, normally in the Parish Hall. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m. with food and refreshments, followed at 7:00 p.m. by a featured speaker for the evening (most months). The business meeting follows with a discussion of upcoming events and improvement projects within the parish.

As an active Parish Ministry, the Men’s Club strives to present our Parish with programs and events to strengthen dedication and build our Catholic community. We take great pride in providing support to the following:

Youth Basketball League, Men’s Club

Youth Basketball League (for boys and girls)

The St. Bonaventure Men’s Club has been organizing the Youth Basketball League for parish children in grades K-4 for more than 15 years now. It began upon the request of Sister Carmel, who originally wanted to provide an opportunity for more children to participate in basketball at St. Bonaventure. We find it to be a great way to bring parish families together to build and strengthen bonds within the parish community while providing healthful and fun activities for children and their families. Children get valuable exercise and families spend more time together with other Catholic families. The Youth Basketball League is one of the best opportunities for parish families with small children to establish many new and lasting friendships at St. Bonaventure.

Each year in mid-October, we begin by inviting parents to bring their children to registration evening where they run through brief basketball drills and an evaluation process. No experience is required, and all participants are placed on a team. Some 175 children participate each year. For about eight weeks beginning in early December, children play basketball games twice a week (we break between Christmas and New Year’s). Games are played on Saturday mornings and Monday or Thursday evenings depending on the children’s grade. All games are played on the St. Bonaventure courts. And we are always looking for volunteers to help with coaching and refereeing. Please join us!

A registration form is available for pdf download here (247 KB) .
Completed forms can be dropped off at the school office or parish office.

Please watch the church bulletin, the school website family envelope page, and Religious Education handouts for registration date and time, again normally in mid-October.

The St. Bonaventure Men’s Club is very proud to offer the Youth Basketball League. We find this to be the most rewarding activity we sponsor. Along with hundreds of families, we look forward to each new season with joyful anticipation.
