Rev. Martin Duc Tran

Parochial Vicar

Fr. Martin Tran was born in Saigon, South Vietnam.

His biological parents passed away in Vietnam; and his foster parents passed away in Sacramento, CA.

Siblings: 8 together, 4 boys and 4 girls; I am in the middle

After the Fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975, he tried to escape 19 times and was in prison on and off for 4 years! He was shot twice, once when he was in prison and once when he escaped from the prison.

“God saved my life twice! Then God also saved my life two more times when I escaped for the last time from Vietnam in 1982 in which I promised God: ‘If you save me and all the people in my boat, the rest of my life will be yours!’ And I kept my promise! After I came to the U.S., I entered St. Joseph College-Seminary in Mountain View and St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, from 1984-1990. I was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of San Francisco on April 28, 1990!”
