Rev. Joseph Knerr

Reverend Joseph Knerr “Fr. Joe” was baptized and made his First Communion at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fullerton. He attended school on the east side of town at St. Mary’s Annex until the fifth grade. This later became St. Juliana Parish.

In 1965 his family moved to Orange. As St. Norbert School had just opened and only offered classes to the fourth grade, his parents enrolled him in St. Catherine Military School where he graduated in 1968. Fr. Joe then decided to enroll in Queen of Angels Seminary High School in San Fernando. St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo followed.

He was ordained to the priesthood for service in the Diocese of Orange in 1980. He served as a Parochial Vicar at St. John the Baptist in Costa Mesa (1980-1984), St. Bonaventure in Huntington Beach (1984-1987), St. Norbert in Orange (1987-1992), and St. Boniface in Anaheim (1992-1994).

His first assignment as pastor was at Holy Spirit Church in Fountain Valley (1994-2003). He served as pastor of St. Martin de Porres in Yorba Linda (2003-2010). The Catholic parish community of Saint Bonaventure warmly welcomed Fr. Joseph Knerr as our new pastor on July 1, 2010.
