St. Bonaventure Religious Education

Mission Statement:  The goal of Religious Education is to help our children encounter Jesus Christ and to support and encourage the faith that is lived in the family.  We serve children from preschool through 8th grade, including children with special needs

Registration for the 2007-08 school year is on-going at this time. Early Bird fees apply until August 1st

No Mail-in registration will be accepted between August 1 and August 26.

August 26th: In-Person Registration in the Hall (for those who have not mailed in materials) fees: $65 per child/$160 for a family of three or more. In-person registration will be ongoing in the RE Office after August 26th.

Please Note: In addition there is a $39 materials fee for any child receiving sacraments this school year. The fee includes a retreat day, sacrament booklets, certificates, First Reconciliation Breakfast costs, etc.

CLASSES BEGIN OCTOBER 2 & 3; SUNDAY SCHOOL BEGINS OCTOBER 14.

Sunday 3yr.old Co-Op during 9:00 am Mass (must be 3yr old by Sept 1st/fee is $25)

Sunday School for Pre-K and K during 9:00 am Mass

Grades 1-6 Tues or Wed 4-5:15 pm or Wed 6:45-8 pm

Jr. High Ministry: Grades 7 & 8 Tues 7-8:15 pm

Spanish First Communion Preparation and Post Communion Classes: Tuesday 7-8:15 pm

(New registration for baptismal preparation or 5-8th grade First Communion by appointment only.)

We are always looking for great adults wanting to share their faith with our young people!!

If you, or someone you know, would like to teach or be an assistant in one of our Religious Education classes, please call the R. E. Office today, 846-1187. We try and "team-teach" whenever possible (place at least 2 teachers per class) and training is available. Volunteering your time as a Religious Education adult is a rewarding experience. Share your faith with our young people as well as become a part of a wonderful group of adults who also enjoy being involved in their parish family.

Compliance with Diocesan regulations regarding volunteers who work with children is required.

Religious Education, aka CCD, is a program which teaches the beliefs and practices of our Catholic Faith. It serves the children who are enrolled in public or private non-Catholic schools in grades pre-K through 8th grade. We also offer sacrament preparation classes for Baptism, Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.

Religious Education is an on-going program. Each year becomes a base for the next. Graduating 8th graders will continue on in the High School Youth Ministry program where Confirmation preparation takes place

• Classes run from October through May
• Children needing Baptism, Reconciliation and First Communion will be enrolled in the sacrament preparation classes
• Children attend 1¼ hours per week

Liturgy of the Word for Children on Sundays

Held during the 9:00 am Mass on Sunday, Sept -June. Children ages 6-10 are invited to join their peers to hear the readings at their age level. These children do not have to be enrolled in Religious Ed, but simply join the others when the priest announces their dismissal. They return to the parents in church after the homily of the Mass.
